Very nice food, word of warning ⚠️ DO NOT EAT before going for a meal. The portions are enormous !! Pleasant staff and reasonably priced meals to boot. Prebook as it DOES get busy !

Delicious food and cosy environment - feels more special than a chain pub, so we often book a table for birthdays and it never disappoints. You pay a little more for the food, but it's worth it. Dog friendly in the bar area, which is just as nice as the restaurant bit.

Was a walk-in with a friend who had heard good things about the food. Unfortunately, we were told they were fully booked so we sat with a drink. About 5-10 minutes later the gentleman who had served the drinks had gone out his way to ask the chef if they could fit 2 more people in! We enjoyed a brilliant roast dinner, friendly staff, nice ambience. Highly recommended, make sure you book a table just in case. Thank you

Had a lovely Sunday roast here - the food itself was excellent and good quality. We will definitely return and I would recommend to anyone looking to book somewhere for a great Sunday roast. The service was also excellent and the restaurant area is decorated nicely with a good ambience.

Ate here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon & it was a lovely experience. The dining hall is big, open & spacious with high ceilings & big doors that open to an outside seating area which is great on a sunny day like when we went. The menu is fantastic as is the food, drinks menu also excellent. Staff were great, very young staff but very polite & attentive. Definitely recommend a visit & will be going again soon to try their Sunday lunch

We called in here for the toilet, then decided to get something to eat, it was beautiful inside, my friend went to the toilet and I was seated by a most polite waiter, who brought the menus, and a bottle of ice cold water from the fridge, which was very welcome, I looked at the menu and saw A'la Carte, and immediately thought this is not going to be a normal lunch, on looking at the menu, my mouth started yum yum at what I could have, my friends returned, looked at the menu and I knew they thought the same, so I said right we have come out for a special lunch, so we picked our choices which were..... Starters...... Ginger Marinated Pigeon Breast Prawn Cocktail (Bloody Mary Sauce) Duck Liver & Brandy Pate. Mains..... Slow Braised Beef Cheek Homemade Suet Pie with Triple cooked chips. Ceasar Salad, Boiled skin Potato and side of Fresh Salmon These meals were out of the world, the taste sublime, the presentation amazing, worth every penny, the service was amazing, the dish I had, Slow Braised Beef Cheek was awarded the 2 Rosette Award, and I could see why..... we couldn't manage the pudding menu, on paying the bill it came to just under £90, so £30 each, was delighted with the price for such beautifully served tasteful food, it was only a few days before it cost me £80 for a takeaway curry at my son's house, The Griffin would win hands down everytime, you need to go here and sample the delicious food and ambience of The Griffin, we will definitely be going back, and maybe make it a cheeky night away in the hotel too.

1st time dining at the Griffin and I am impressed. The decor, clientele and food is excellent, as well as the service. My only suggestion, is the service for aperitifs could of been a little quicker. All of our table of five enjoyed it and will be returning very soon.

Lovely place. Tasteful decor. Didn't eat there this time around but did enquire about gluten-free options which we have been advised they have many. Had an ale or two. Relaxing atmosphere with a warm ambiance.

Be aware that the prices you see on the website, for food, are out of date and there has been at least £1.50, added to some meals. Friendly and welcoming staff The menu isn't huge, but has some weird and wonderful portions, including Lincolnshire poacher and truffle custard to start, hake Kiev, mussels, rib & chuck burger (just a beef burger really), egg custard, baked Alaska or cheese board to finish. Lovely open plan restaurant at the back in an extension. Seemed to be able to cope when there were only a few tables, but once it got busy, the staff seemed a little flustered, so much so, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our desserts, due to them being behind with checks. No one checked on us to see if our meals were ok or if we needed anything. This place isn't cheap and this is down to the fact it has recently been awarded an AA rosette. The food was very nice, but I won't be rushing back.
